Pod2g: I’m Not Working on iOS 6 Jailbreak

Don’t expect iPhone 5 jailbreak to be released soon! Chronic Dev Team’s @pod2g has just confirmed he is not working on iOS 6 jailbreak and that he is currently focusing on his regular job. This is indeed a big blow for entire jailbreaking community who are anxiously waiting for A5 (iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3) and A6 (iPhone 5) jailbreak running Apple’s iOS 6 mobile operating system. Currently only A4 devices can be jailbroken on iOS 6 using redsn0w but we will not advice you to go for it since most of the Cydia apps are buggy and doesn’t support iOS 6.

Google Maps App Not yet Submitted for Apple Store Approval

Google Executive Eric Schmidt squashed the flames for claims against Map app by denying that the company has already submitted a new native Google Maps for App Store approval. Reuters reported – Schmidt denied the rumor, saying, “We have not done anything yet” to offer iOS device owners an alternative to the buggy iOS 6 Maps app. Eric Schmidt, who is in Japan to Launch Android powered Nexus 7 tablet,  told reporters in Tokyo: Google Inc has made no move to provide Google Maps for the iPhone 5 after Apple Inc dropped the application in favor of a home-grown but controversial alternative, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said.

FCC Mandates Verizon to Sell iPhone 5 in an Unlocked State

The Verizon ships all iPhone 5 unlocked that can work on AT&T’s network or any other supporting GSM network worldwide. And, in future, like Sprint iPhone 4S last year, VZW iPhone 5 will not be locked. The confirmation came from a Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney, when various technology journalists reached out to the carrier after Jeff demoed AT&T SIM working on Verizon iPhone 5.

iOS 5.1 (10A406e) Download Available for Apple TV 2G and Apple TV 3G

Apple has pushed out iOS 5.1 (10A406e) for both second and third generation Apple TVs extending its support for Shared Photo Streams, the ability to send audio content from the Apple TV to AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices (including AirPort Express and other Apple TVs), and the ability to switch between multiple iTunes accounts. To update your Apple TV to 5.1 (10A406e), turn your device on and go to the Settings menu, then General, then selecting Update Software. In addition, hackers over firecore has released a warning for Jailbreakers saying – “Apple TV 5.1 (iOS 6) was just released. Best to sit tight for the time being if you want to keep your jailbreak. ”

Apple Sells 5 Million iPhone 5 in Opening Weekend with 100M iOS 6 Upgrades

Apple on Monday said iPhone 5 sales topped 5 million units for the first three days the device reached retail last Friday and was available to customers. The phone hit stores on September 21st and it took just three days to move the massive lot. This is by far the best iPhone launch based on early numbers. Last year, more than 4 million iPhone 4S device breezed through the weekend. iPhone 4, however, recorded sales of 1.7 million in its first three days of retail availability. The early iPhone 4S sales were four times the number of iPhone 3GS devices sold in the same period in 2009. Apple Hiring Ex-Google Maps Engineers to Improve iOS Maps

Amid growing criticism over the controversial map app in iOS 6, Apple last week posted a number of job advertisements to form a crack team of developers for map app. TC now reports that Apple is pursuing former and current Google Maps employees to revolutionize its maps application with vector-based Apple Maps, turn-by-turn navigation, and 3D. With iOS 6, Apple released its all-new Maps app, but users are reporting difficulty in navigating with the program. With no street views, missing public-transportation routing, poor 3D driving interface, and poor traffic reporting, disgruntled and befuddled iOS 6.0 users are forced to use the browser-based version of Google Maps. Hacker Chpwn Jailbreaks iPhone 5 on Day One

It’s been a busy day in the realm of shiny iPhone 5 – The New iPhone launched today as well as jailbroken within hours by hacker. The talented iOS developer @chpwn, who is often known for developing jailbreak tweaks and applications successfully jailbroken iPhone 5 running on the latest build Apple mobile operating system – iOS 6.0. Chpwn (Grant Paul) shared the news to the public by posting the pictures of jailbroken iPhone 5 running Cydia on it. The vulnerability and method used by the hacker is not for public consumption since the exploit discovered in iOS 6.0 is not legally distributive. And, in a reply on Twitter to another iOS jailbreak developer Stefan Esser, aka i0n1c, chpwn confirmed that the jailbreak was indeed genuine.

The iPhone 5 is finally here. The most highly anticipated gadget since Apple’s last big release arrives in stores on Friday across United States and is already the Apple’s biggest hit. In addition to U.S., iPhone 5 will go on sale today in UK, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. Many customers have queued more than a week before the launch. In New York, hundred lined up outside of the flagship Apple Store on Fifth Avenue. Fortune’s Philip Elmer-Dewitt is at the 5th Avenue Store and notes that the line is longer than last year’s iPhone 4S line:
