What is Absinthe?

Developed by Chronic Dev Team, Absinthe is a userland jailbreak tool which lets you jailbreak your A5 based iOS devices such as iPhone 4S and iPad 2. The A5 jailbreak exploit was originally discovered by @pod2g which was later converted into full blown exploit by @saurik, @musclenerd, @xvolks, @pimskeks and others.

Chronic Dev team first packaged the A5 exploit into easy-to-use GUI jailbreak tool Absinthe which works on both Windows and Mac OS. On the other hand, iPhone Dev Team independently packaged the exploit into a command line interface to ease the troubleshooting process. Once the errors are ironed out completely, iPhone Dev team plans to package the vulnerability into redsn0w tool for stable and clean jailbreak. To date, redsn0w has not been updated to support iPhone 4S or iPad 2.

Supported Devices:  iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0 (iPhone 4S only), 5.0.1 (9A405) and iOS 5.0.1 build 9A406 on iPhone 4S.
