On the heels of Corona A5 jailbreak, Pod2g, an untether jailbreak expert for A5 and A4 on iOS 5 has posted a clarification note on his blog saying that a new jailbreak tool ‘Absinthe’, developed by the Chronic Dev Team will be released that will untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak on iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

Since this jailbreak is different from all other tools released till date, users may fall into serious critical issues like iTunes errors, boot issues and other recovery loop problems. In order to address those bugs, iPhone Dev Team has developed a new CLI (command line) tool that will help the jailbreak dream team to diagnose issues and fix them as soon as possible. Once the issues are completely fixed, the iPhone Dev team will package it into easy-to-use redsn0w tool.

[Warning]: People looking to jailbreak their A5 device on iOS 5.0.1 are advised to make back-ups of their data before installing Absinthe. Since the hackers have tested it on different devices successfully, chances are minimal that serious issues will arise out of it. For the first time we will be using the backup / restore functions of iTunes to install software, and there are maybe bugs we are not aware of, added pod2g. Unlockers MUST stay away from Absinthe (Read note).

As a quick refresher, Absinthe will jailbreak following devices iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406) and all three iPad 2 models – iPad 2 WiFi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1 stock IPSW. If you’re wanting to jailbreak an iPad 2 when today’s Absinthe release comes out, upgrade to 5.0.1 now if you haven’t. iOS 5.0 is not supported, however.
