Yes! iPad 2 has been successfully jailbroken (untethered) running the latest mobile operating system - iOS 5.0.1. Skilled hacker, pod2g, has posted an image of jailbroken white iPad 2 showing Cydia application running on 5.0.1 stock IPSW. Few days back, similar feat was achieved on iPhone 4S and the Jailbreak dream Team even posted a video teasing cydia store on 5.0.1.
The team has completed A5 jailbreak and have already started beta testing on most of the popular cydia applications available – One of them being IntelliscreenX which was tested successfully by hacker @planetbeing. He even posted a teaser shot of IntelliscreenX running on iPad 2.
One the A5 jailbreak is out, most of the app developers will start spreading thin to test their applications on both iPhone 4S and iPad 2. The most interesting space would be to keep an eye on Siri hacks. Most of them are waiting to get Siri files from jailbroken iPhone 4S, so as to distribute it in a legal way. I am sure, in a day or so, after the jailbreak is announced by pod2g, you will be able to run Siri Voice assistant on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G and first generation iPad.
pod2g’s userland exploit will likely be ported to both Greenpois0n and Redsn0w tools, since both of them have assisted pod2g to convert his half-cooked vulnerability to a full-blown exploit. Sn0wbreeze (a custom IPSW maker for Windows), as usual, will likely provide the A5 jailbreak support within few days following the release.
If you are reading this post, then you must be waiting for A5 jailbreak too. Aren’t you? If yes, then it is highly recommended to update your iPhone 4S and iPad to latest 5.0.1 before it is too late. Saving SHSH blobs of 5.0.1 will not suffice.
I can smell that A5 jailbreak is closer than ever. Do you? Shout out in comments! In order to get instant jailbreak updates, please follow us on twitter @JAlLBREAKS
