Chpwn, known name in jailbreak community, has developed a new app Zephyr that brings Harmattan-style multitasking gestures for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5 and above. As soon as you swipe up, it brings the multitasking switcher; you can then switch to different apps by swiping left or right from the edge.
This simple and smooth multitasking gesture essentially decreases the wear and tear of the hardware Home button, and also speeds up the usage of the multitasking drawer. You simply start dragging from outside the bottom of the screen and move your finger onto the screen. This edge swipe would activate the multitasking drawer. Just the same way that Apple has made the iPad gestures.
You can also multitask from iPhone edge screen. Yes, you might activate it accidentally. But you always have an option to have ‘Left or Right Edges’ turned off via settings menu.
