Apple has begun soliciting developers, inviting them to be among the first participate in the beta release of the next update to OS X Mountain Lion, identified as OS X 10.8.3. Selected number of Mac OS X developers got an email invite on Wednesday to participate in the next Mountain Lion Software Update seed project, “Join us for 10.8.3″. Those who accepted the invitation began gaining access to the pre-release beta builds of OS X 10.8.3 on Thursday.
Releasing it to dev for testing confirms that OS X 10.8.3 is almost ready to ship, but as usual, the company want developers to test their applications and find potential bugs before the software update is released to the public. The company normally seeds pre-release beta builds to developer community to patch things before they get out of control.
In mid-September, Apple publicly released OS X 10.8.2 for Mountain Lion bringing the much anticipated feature – system-wide Facebook integration. It also provided support for several features integrating with iOS 6, such as Passbook passes and iMessage/FaceTime access via phone number, et cetera.
As of right now, no release date for OS X 10.8.3 has been announced and new features for OS X 10.8.3 beta have not been identified. Stay tuned for additional details as they become available.
