As expected, at an event today, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phill Schiller announced an update to its 13-inch MacBook Pro model adding a model with a retina display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels – or 4 megapixels making it world’s (2nd) highest resolution notebook display. The new MacBook Pro is 20% thinner than its predecessor and weighs 3.57 pounds making it as the lightest MacBook Pro ever.

Internally, the updated MacBook Pro will offer flash storage, Intel dual-core Ivy Bridge processors, and Intel HD Graphics 4000. It can be configured with up to 768 GB of flash storage.

The 13-inch retina display MacBook Pro will start at 8GB of RAM and 128GB of flash storage for $1699.
