iPad Mini Launch Event Set for October 23 at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium

Apple’s iPad Mini launch event, which was earlier rumored to held on Wednesday, October 17th will actually occur on October 23rd, reports All Things Digitial debunking past claims that iPad Mini is delayed due to production bottleneck. ATD was not able to ascertain the exact location where the iPad Mini event will take place. But most likely it will be held at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium where the company launched OS X Lion, a next-generation MacBook Air and the iPhone 4S. Chances are ultra slim for San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts or Moscone.

So, if we look at the trend of release dates Apple could be sending out invitations to the launch event for the iPad mini on coming Monday, i.e. on October 15.

Apple will hold a special event this month at which it will showcase a new, smaller iPad. People familiar with Apple’s plans tell us that the company will unveil the so-called “iPad mini” on October 23 at an invitation-only event. That’s a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, so this is a bit of a break with recent tradition. It also happens to be just three days prior to the street date for Microsoft’s new Surface tablet..

..Sources declined to specify where the event is to be held, and I’ve not been able to confirm a location.

Apple normally sends invitation about 7-8 days apart. For instance, for last year’s iPhone launch, Apple issued invitations for its “Let’s Talk iPhone Event” on Tuesday, Sept. 27. The event itself was held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, exactly 7 days after the invites went out. In March, Apple invited press to its new iPad event on Tuesday Feb. 28. The event itself occurred 8 days later on Wednesday, March 7. iPhone 5 media event ‘It’s almost here’ invitation was sent 8 days before.

Apple critic Jim Dalrymple, John Gruber and AllThingsD have already reported that Apple is planning an iPad mini introduction for October.

On iPad Mini specifications, ATD’s anonymous sources reveal that the mini Apple tablet is thinner and will feature a 7.85-inch liquid-crystal display with a Lightning connector.

Now, it seems that we have the actual iPad Mini launch date (Wednesday, Oct. 23), but all we need are the official invitations from Apple. Until Apple sends out invitations, any rumor is just supposition.
