Pwn Dev-Team has released Ac1dSn0w using their own jailbreaking method and as it stands, Ac1dSn0w only supports Mac OS X rigs and allows you to jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G, and iPad on iOS 5.0.1 and iOS 5.0 “tethered”. The tool’s interface is pristine and the payload is radically same from other varieties of sn0w.
Though the same can be achieved using established redsn0w or sn0wbreeze but DIY minded jailbreakers can grab a copy of Ac1dSn0w and follow all the instructions they’ll need. Acidsn0w jailbreak also provides advance features such as Tethered Boot, Pwned DFU mode, and Exit Recovery to get your device out of Recovery Loop.
Why should you keep an eye on Ac1dSn0w Jailbreak?
Since Ac1dSn0w is in beta, the hard working folks at Pwn Dev-Camp are promising to package new features that are unavailable with any of the existing jailbreaking utilities such as greenpois0n, redsn0w or sn0wbreeze. The upcoming version of Ac1dSn0w will allow you to jailbreak your devices remotely. That means you will be able to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad available at your home using your Mac in office. Like PwnageTool, users will also be able to create pre-jailbroken custom firmwares. iRecovery Remote is another novel feature planned for future release that will help you to communicate with the remote devices and send custom payloads.
This sounds like a better replacement for redsn0w but we would still recommend everyone to use iPhone Dev Team’s jailbreaking tools and methods since they are more trusted, more established and have excellent support system in place.
Jailbreakers take heed – Ac1dSn0w only supports a tethered jailbreak. If your battery is depleted after the hack, then you will have to reconnect your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to a computer and use the Ac1dSn0w utility to reboot it. Right now the tool does not support jailbreaking A5 powered iOS device such as iPhone 4S or iPad 2.
[Update]: We have tested the Ac1dSn0w tool on iPhone 4 and can confirm that it tether jailbreaks the device.

Tell us about your experiences with this jailbreak in the comments.

[Update 1]: MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that Ac1dSn0w contains copyright code that has been used 15 times across the code and thus illegally distributed. Download links of Ac1dSn0w will remain unavailable till the Pwn Dev Team fixes this issue.
