Now that Chronic Dev Team has released Absinthe 2.0 to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 ( build 9B206), it now time to learn how to jailbreak. The process for jailbreaking iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS is fairly simple and straight-forward. It only requires plugging iPhone to the computer, running the Absinthe 2.0 utility and clicking the “Jailbreak” button.
If you’re Apple iPhone is running iOS 5.1, you must upgrade it to 5.1.1 before you follow the steps to jailbreak; else you’ll not be able to jailbreak your iPhone (Note: Absinthe 2.0 doesn’t support iOS 5.1). This is done by downloading a stock IPSW from Apple and applying it with iTunes (preferably, the latest version of iTunes).
Note: If you have already jailbroken your iPhone 4 or 3GS “tethered” using redsn0w, there is no need to re-jailbreak. You can simply install Rocky Racoon Untether 5.1.1 Package from Cydia to convert tethered jailbreak into Un-tethered. New users, however, have to follow Absinthe 2.0 process. The following easy-to-follow instructions will help you jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 (Build 9B206) on iPhone. It couldn’t be any simpler than this method right here. It’s a 1-click jailbreak.
Requirements
- iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1.1 IPSW.
- Computer running on Mac OS X or Windows OS or Linix.
- USB cable to connect iPhone to computer
Instructions: iPhone iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak
The following easy-to-follow instructions will help you jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 (Build 9B206) on A5 based iPhone 4S, A4 based iPhone 4 and third generation iPhone 3GS (both Old and New Bootrom). It couldn’t be any simpler than this method right here.
Step 1) Download and extract Absinthe from the .zip and start Absinthe.
Step 2) Connect your iOS device to your computer. The tool will automatically detect your iOS device and firmware running on it.
Step 3) Click the ‘Jailbreak’ button to begin the process. After clicking, you will see a message that requests you to wait for a while as the first process requires a little time.
Let Absinthe 2.0 do its thing, you will notice scrolling text on your screen to assure you that something is happening in background.
During this process, initial jailbreak data files are transferred from the computer to iOS installed on your device followed by final jailbreak data. Please do not interrupt the process. It may take time which is perfectly normal with Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak.
Your iPhone will reboot automatically. During the reboot process, do not touch your Mac or iPhone device. Sit tight and wait for a while.
As soon as the Absinthe injection is complete your iPhone device will reboot automatically. The message window of the tool will read – “Waiting for process to complete…”
Once you get the message – “Done Enjoy”, you will notice Cydia on your iPhone Springboard
Congratulations, you have successfully jailbroken your iPhone 4S on 5.1.1 (untethered). The method is “exactly” the same for iPhone 4 (both CDMA and GSM) and iPhone 3GS on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Easy, isn’t it?
