iOS hacker and Apple-enthusiast @xvolks has released a demo video of 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, that takes advantage of the pod2g’s exploits and kernel vulnerability. As you can see in the video demo, Absinthe V2.0 has been used to jailbreak iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1.1 firmware. The jailbreak is completely untethered and seems to be working great. @xvolks came into limelight when he first introduced fix to iBooks crashing bug in Corona Jailbreak. Since then, he has been assisting pod2g and other hackers of repute.

The iOS 5.x was notoriously difficult to jailbreak since the A5/A5X chip still has no known bootrom exploits to this day. However, Chronic Dev Team and pod2G worked hard and found a series of exploits to liberate iOS devices built around the more powerful A5/A5X processor. The pod2g’s hack is unique in that it uses 7 exploits – 5 exploits to overcome Technical hurdles and 2 to get past legal troubles. With the second version of Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak, users will be able to jailbreak all iOS devices on ioS 5.1.1 untethered (except Apple TV3).

Still, no official date has been mentioned for the public release of a jailbreak solution for 5.1.1 ipsw. The closest to a time frame we’ve seen has been pod2g’s tweet a few hours ago, “we’re near ready for a release. Now it’s a matter of days.”

Remember! Apple is serious when it comes to security. As soon as the 5.1.1 jailbreak is out, Apple engineers will start spreading thin and work feverishly to patch the security hole. We warn you not to update your iOS device to an incremental iOS 5.1.2 software update or iOS 5.2 following its release. Because of this, I advise users to save 5.1.1 SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella if you’d like to keep your device jailbroken when the next iOS update is released.

[UPDATE 1]: iPhone Dev Team and pod2g have issued a common note clarifying about the upcoming Absinthe 2.0, CLI, Redsn0w for 5.1.1 jailbreak. The note also issue tips and warnings for unlockers.

[UPDATE 2]: Releasing on this Friday?

Stay tuned! We will update you along with full tutorial guides on how to untether jailbreak your iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3, etc. Just follow @JAlLBREAKS on twitter or Facebook.
