iOS hacker Yiduo David Wang (aka @Planetbeing) has finally fixed the issues with the 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak and DRM controlled books that was likely lurking its release. This means a new patch has now been packaged into the upcoming jailbreak which will allow you to open DRM protected iBooks on your iPad 3, iPad 2 and other iOS devices without any issue.
If you’re unaware, iBooks on jailbroken devices doesn’t show images and content on digital rights management technology (DRM) protected documents quite often.
The iBooks DRM patch will run in background before loading any DRM-controlled book to bypass jailbreak detection mechanism in iBooks. The confirmation came from his fellow hacker pod2g who praised him for his accomplishment achieved in few hours.

As a testament, pod2g has already posted pictures and demo video confirming iPhone 4/4S, iPad, iPad 2 and iPad 3 jailbreak in last few days during his beta testing. And yes, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G, and Apple TV3 will be out of the purview. Except these three models, the latest exploit will jailbreak all iOS devices. The possible reason why the latest hack doesn’t support them could be because it uses multiple exploits.
If you’re living under the rock, the upcoming pod2g’s jailbreak is unique of all of them released till date. There are in total 7 exploits being used to complete the tool – 5 of them helped the hackers to overcome Technical hurdles and remaining two bypassed legal troubles.
I can smell that iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak is closer than ever. Do you? No ETA has been shared so far, but a recent teaser tweet from Chronic DEV Team insinuates that it could be announced during HITB conference next week.
