Widgets on smartphones come handy as they provide you quick look at lots of different kinds of information and quick access to valuable apps and settings. They are natively available on android phones but unfortunately, the iPhone doesn’t provide you with the widgets, at least officially. They’re faster than digging through a bunch of menus. Many iOS users wish they had home screen settings widgets like Android devices do.

A new jailbreak tweak Dashboard X will soon be made available in cydia store that will allow you to select the existingNotificationCenterwidgets and position them anywhere on your iPhone or iPad Home screen. Thanks to jailbreak developer Ori Kadosh who has simplified the process for adding NC widgets to the iOS home screens seamlessly.

Dashboard X iPhone App

Jeff at iDB installed Dashboard X on his iPhone and created a video which shows how the tweak actually works. To position any widget, place your device into wiggle mode by holding down on any app icon, then tap and hold any blank space on the Springboard. It will bring the Add New Widget window, prompting you to select the Notification Center widget. If you do not see any widget, be sure you have installed one onto your iOS device. Without having NC widgets the Dashboard X tweak doesn’t have any meaning.

Dashboard X has earned a lot of positive comments among the jailbreak community because of the wonderful functionality and convenience that it brings to add widget on homescreen. If this is the kind of tweak you’re interested, be sure you checkout this space. We will let you know, once Dashboard X download is made available.

Dashboard X is fully compatible with any iOS device on any iOS 5 version including the iPhone.

[UPDATE:1] Dashboard X 2.0 is out and Available for iPad and iPhone.
