We’ve spent endless hours scouring the iOS 6 compatible cydia applications, and now we’re ready to report back. There are a lot of good ones in this edition – here are the twenty most essential cydia apps available for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 on iOS 6.0 that require jailbreak.
[UPDATE]: 10 Top A5 Jailbreak Tweaks to Supercharge your iPhone 4S
Jailbreaking, for those of you that don’t know, means giving yourself system privileges on your iPhone. Jailbroken iPhone will set you free from the walledgardenofApple’s App Store and give you instant access to the cydia application store which is now being used by millions of users worldwide.
If you haven’t jailbroken your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS yet, but would like to know more about the process, be sure to check out our always up-to-date guide to Jailbreak Apple iPhone.
You must be wandering why we haven’t mentioned iPhone 4S and will these tweaks support the latest generation model or not?
Well, we don’t see any solid reason why these tweaks will not work. Since iPhone 4S is just a minor update over its predecessor with same display resolution, all cydia apps that are working on iPhone 4 “MUST” work on jailbroken iPhone 4S too.
Hands-Free Control: Currently, you can only activate ‘Siri’ on iPhone 4S by pressing the “Home button” but with “Hands-Free Control” cydia tweak, as the name suggests, you can easily invoke the Voice Assistant by saying the word “Siri”. Until iPhone 4S jailbreak is released to public, you will not be able to install this tweak.
No icon would be added to your SpringBoard – all settings will get configured in the Settings.app under Hands-Free Control. “Hands-Free Control” cydia tweak is available via the BigBoss repo at $1.99 only.

Since iOS hackers have already hacked Siri port on old generation devices, there is no reason why this tweak will not activate Voice Controls on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or the 3rd or 4th gen iPod touch.
IntelliscreenX – It is a new Cydia tweak that adds iOS 5 Notification Center to the iPhone lock screen and lets you have a quick glimpse at your social updates from Twitter and Facebook, RSS feeds, mail inbox, mail message, access to system toggles, weather, and more. It’s the best use of the Lock Screen we’ve seen to date.

With IntelliScreenX app you can easily open notification center directly from the lock screen including notification center widgets like PowerCenter, WeeRadio, WidgetTask, OmniStat and others. You can even toggle between 3G, Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, BlueTooth, et cetra using its “Top Shelf” feature.
AppLocker: A tweak developed by Ori Kadosh lets you password-protect individual apps for extra layer of security. The tweak comes handy when someone knows about your passcode, but unfortunately he or she will not be able to open the locked-apps without entering password. The best part is that you can select individual apps of your choice for which you want to block your friends from accessing your Twitter, facebook, the App Store or any other app.
After installing AppLocker, no icons will be added to the homescreen, the tweak adds a new pane to Settings.app, in which a password lock can be added to all your iOS applications. You can also try a free alternative iApplocker available via modmyi repo.
AutocorrectionBar: iOS 5 hides a secret feature: an Android-like autocorrect keyboard bar. This cydia tweak, developed by Ryan Petrich, lets you enable the Auto-Correct Keyboard Suggestion Bar in iOS 5 in just few clicks. Once installed, it displays a bar above the keyboard and offer word suggestions whenever you type a word.

Firebreak: Brains at Apple labs had been testing the Panorama mode as a possible feature for iOS 6, but did not released for unknown reason. Firebreak, developed by renowned hacker chpwn, enables built-in but hidden Panorama Mode in iOS 5 Camera App in just few clicks. After the feature is activated, you can snap individual photos from left to right and the software will stitch it together automatically.

Firebreak tweak is available under the BigBoss repository for free and only supports Gyroscope capable devices like iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G and iPad on iOS 6. It does not support iPhone 3GS.
MyWi 5.0: It’s popular tethering app that creates WiFi Hotspot to connect laptops or mobile devices to share your iPhone or iPad’s internet connection. The reason why we’re recommending is that the price of AT&T’s tethering option is $45 per month whilst the price of MyWi 5.0 is just $19.99 (one time). Why to shell out such a huge recurring amount when you have MyWi. This powerful app even turns your Wi-Fi only iPad into WiFi+3G model.

MyWi 5.0 is available in the Cydia Store via ModMyi repository for $19.99 (4.x users can upgrade for free, and 3.x users can upgrade for $9.99). This cydia app works with all jailbroken iPhones (including 2G/3G/3GS/4) and iPad on 3.1.2 or later.
AppSlide: Most of the phones sport a physical back button but iPhone and iPod touch supports soft back button at top-left which is not available always. For instance, when you click a link in iPhone mail app, it takes you to a safari browser, and when you press iPhone home button it just takes you back to springboard instead going back to mail app. But the handy AppSlide tweak removes this hurdle.

This jailbreak app adds another function to the device hardware button and lets you navigate back to the previous application without any hassle. AppSlide is available for download in Cydia for free via the BigBoss Repository and you must have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch before installing the app.
FolderLock: It allows you to password protect folders, the Settings App as well as iOS features like Spotlight and the multitasking bar. This nifty tweak doesn’t include a separate home screen icon; just go to the Settings app to adjust FolderLock options. Here is the FolderLock demo video.

The FolderLock tweak can be downloaded and installed through Cydia for $1.59 only available under BigBoss repo. It is utmost important for you to make sure that you don’t put the Settings.app or Cydia.app inside a folder and lock it. You’ll be in trouble in case you forget the password.
GridLock: Developed by Chpwn and p0sixninja, this powerful jailbreak tweak lets you reposition springboard icons freely in every possible way in the 4×4 layout throughout the Springboard.

With Gridlock Cydia app you can arrange your springboard icons in order of how frequently they are being used or assigning rows to a particular category of apps on Jailbroken iDevice. Gridlock app will cost $ 0.99 in cydia.
CyDelete: Removing or deleting Cydia tweaks or applications from iPhone’s springboard is not easy as it seems. But with CyDelete app, developed by Dustin Howett, Cydia packages can be removed like any App Store applications; Just hold down the icon, wait for them to start wiggling, and tap the ‘X’ icon. CyDelete will not remove applications that are not managed by Cydia, however.

ActionMenu: This handy tweak extends and customizes the Action Menu by adding more actions to the clipboard in addition to cut, copy and paste feature. The mod adds the ability to ‘Copy All’, ‘Scroll to the Top’, ‘Scroll to the Bottom’, ‘Dial’ and ‘Favorites’. An advanced version ActionMenu Plus brings additional features like dial, search history etc to iPhone.

DisplayOut: It displays your iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4 G or iPad’s screens on an external display such as a TV. This video mirroring feature, which is exclusively available to iPad 2, can be achieved on jailbroken fourth generation iPhone and iPod touch and first generation iPad using DisplayOut cydia tweak developed by Ryan Petrich. DisplayOut costs $2.99 on the Cydia App Store.

Display Recorder: This powerful cydia app which costs $4.99 lets you record and capture high quality video of your iPhone and save it as .avi files which can be published to Youtube within the app. Features such as custom activation gestures, OpenGL capture, choose video quality and orientation, frame-rate adjustments can easily be changed from the Display Recorder tab in Settings.app.

OpenSSH - It is the most important utility that every Jailbreaker must install. With OpenSSH you can manage your iPhone and edit its system files. It lets you connect to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch over WiFi and transfer files from your computer to your iPhone

OpenSSH client can be installed via installer or Cydia. The process is fairly simple; just launch Cydia from SpringBoard and it will prompt you to select between ‘Hacker’ or ‘User’. Make sure you select ‘Hacker’ and then the settings will load automatically. Now, on the search tab, type in “Open SSH” and install Open SSH.
Winterboard, SBSettings, Infinifolders, Infinidock, Infiniboard, RetinaPad, and Activator are some of the most important and common Cydia Apps that most of the jailbreakers are already acquainted with. If you are new to jailbreaking world, you must install and try these out. We can assure that the cydia tweaks listed above will definitely help make you more productive, creative, and happy.
If you think that we missed out some of the important tweaks to list, shoot out your favorite cydia applications or tweaks that you think are the best.
