iPhone Dev Team lead hacker Eric McDonald (aka @Musclenerd) has confirmed that Apple engineers are fixing their activation servers to fix ICCID vulnerability that lead to iPhone unlock via SAM tool. Musclenerd added that for the next few hours, trying SAM to unlock iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS on new SIMs will be a hit or miss, but eventually it will be all “miss”.
We all knew that Apple will fix their iPhone activation servers anytime soon and it is surprising that the company took so many days to act. But Apple continues to make it more difficult to unlock iPhones and stay ahead in the cat and mouse game.
Looks like Apple’s currently fixing their activation servers. But the good news is that previous tickets gotten via SAM trick still work.

Those who have already saved baseband activation tickets via SAM trick still work. If you haven’t backed up your activation tickets, act now! To save activation tickets, you have to options available – Either use Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b or SAM. It is important to note that the activation ticket is tied to a particular SIM (not all future SIMs…just the one used during the trick).
