Ryan Petrich Releases Curiosa that Notifies You With Cydia Package Updates on iOS Notification Center

Developer Ryan Petrich, has just released Curiosa tweak that lets you receive alerts within the iOS ‘NotificationCenter’ when cydia tweaks or apps have received an update, which means you will never miss them. Everything is done without having to launch on cydia which is a real time saver. Prior Curiosa , jailbreak app users did not had any way of receiving instant package updates unless they go into Cydia store and refresh a source which was quite annoying.

As you can see from the screenshot above, there is a notification that a new version of Activator is available in Cydia Store. Alerts and notifications appear in the NotificationCenter and remain on-screen until you click on the show or close buttons. As soon as you click on the notification, you will be taken to the cydia store where you can directly update your jailbreak application.

Once installed, you can configure several options available under the settings pane of the tweak. You can set the time interval (Daily, Hourly, etc) when you want tweak to send updates (Automatic Refresh) on your iPhone screen. Alerts sound can also be disabled under notifications Settings. For Manual Refresh, you can assign the activator actions- Such as double click on screen will show you all available updates. A single button “Refresh Now” has been made available under Manual refresh settings to receive updates of all apps installed on the device, if available. Curiosa will also show update notifications for package that are installed and those that match the specified keywords.

This Curiosa tweak offers all the functionality of other alerts such as being available on the lock screen. Like other tweaks, you should be able to configure options in the Settings app and Curiosa can be enabled or disabled from the Settings app, in the Notifications panel.

Currently, Ryan has released the first beta of Curiosa publicly on its repo (http://rpetri.ch/repo). Curiosa widget will soon be available on cydia store (likely on BigBoss repo) and we’ll of course keep you updated as more information comes in.
