Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11 Released to Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on Windows

Famed iOS hacker Steven also known as iH8sn0w among jailbreaking community has updated his flagship tool sn0wbreeze v2.8 to BETA 11, which now support iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak seeded by Apple earlier today to public which primarily addresses battery drain issue.

The latest version of sn0wbreeze jailbreaks iOS 5.0 (9A334), iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) and promises to fix iBooks sandbox crashing issues available in the tool since iH8sn0w released sn0wbreeze 2.8b9.

iPhone 3GS users who are already unlocked iOS 5 on iPad baseband (06.15.00) must note that this release also fixes location services issues with device and the hacker has re-added iPad baseband install option to iPhone 3GS.

Those who are living under the rock must note that Sn0wbreeze is windows based jailbreaking tool which is used to create custom .ipsw files that are pre-jailbroken. Those files can then be used to restore iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Except iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom), only tethered jailbreak is possible for iPhone 4 (both GSM and CDMA), iPhone 3GS (New bootrom), iPod touch 4G/3G and iPad 1G.

sn0wbreeze v2.8 to BETA 11

As there is no untethered jailbreak for iOS 5, we will have to boot the jailbroken device into a tethered mode using iBooty utility. You will find it on your desktop which is automatically downloaded during the IPSW creation process.

    An update, I put my SIM card in and tried again and got a lot further. The itunes restore started and went along way but at about 90% itunes came up with an error message – “There is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate.”

    Does anyone know how to go further?

    when I run this I upload the ipsw fine – “it says snowbreeze seems to have successfully created your ipsw, this file will be located on your desktop.”  It then says press “OK” in a large red box but beneath the red box is yellow text saying “use ibooty to boot device into jailbroken state. ibooty is on your desktop.”

    At what point do I open the ibooty.exe and run that?

    I pressed OK and ignored the ibooty comment, and got as far as shift and restore in itunes. I uploaded the snowbreeze ipsw but got error 2005. I re-did this three times with the same result. So I’m thinking I must need to do something with ibooty?

    Sorry to bother you. When I try to get the IPSW from Snowbreeze, it takes me to the Apple DEV website. I can not find where to D/L it. Can you please help? Thank you.

    can i change my baseband 04.11.08 to any unlockable baseband, it dosen’t matter if i use a gevey sim

        Hi how come when i create a ipsw and then try restore via ITunes i always get “firmware not compatible” ?? Please help
