The New iPad (3) on iOS 5.1 Has Been Jailbroken by Musclenerd – [PHOTOS]

On the heels of his valuation early morning, Musclenerd, the lead hacker of iPhone Dev Team has jailbroken his iPad 3 running the latest iOS 5.1 (9B176). The hacker posted the pictures of his jailbroken iPad 3,3 on twitter. The first picture shows a terminal window with root access while the second image shows Cydia on “The New iPad”.

Since the vulnerability is still half-cooked, the hacker might need sometime before it can be converted into full-blown jailbreak exploit. There’s no official word on when the untethered iOS 5.1 jailbreak will be available, but signs suggests that it could be packaged and pushed to public within a week or so. Continue to be patient, supportive, and be extremely excited that it is on the way!
