iOS developer, @chpwn, has updated its cydia tweak AppSlide v1.1 which now supports all iOS devices running on latest iOS 5 firmware. This jailbreak app adds another function to the device hardware button and lets you navigate back to the previous application without any hassle.

Most of the phones sport a physical back button but iPhone and iPod touch supports soft back button at top-left which is not available always. For instance, when you click a link in iPhone mail app, it takes you to a safari browser, and when you press iPhone home button it just takes you back to springboard instead going back to mail app. But the handy AppSlide tweak removes this hurdle.

Currently, AppSlide is available to download in Cydia for free via the BigBoss Repository and you must have a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch before installing the app. Then proceed to configure the Activator method for the AppSlide back button from your Settings app. ( it is set to ‘Home button’ by default). You can however set a new action for AppSlide – like a press of the volume button, or even a touch gesture.  No new icons are added to your homescreen, however.
