Those who have been obsecrating for 04.11.08 iPhone 4 Unlock, there is finally some good news! The hardware modders at applenberry camp has confirmed that they have managed to unlock iPhone 4 on baseband 04.11.08 using GEVEY SIM interposer. The hack is undergoing rigorous testing and is on final stage before they can release it to masses, confirmed Applenberry on their official facebook page.
Currently, GEVEY Ultra supports unlocking iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0, or iOS 5.0.1 with preserve baseband 4.10.01, 1.59.00, 2.10.04 and 3.10.01. But you have to install Furiousmod 2.0 to unlock baseband firmware. We have already posted the method in detail here.
As of now, there is no SIM interposer or free unlock available that can unlock 4.11.08 – neither Ultrasn0w supports unlocking baseband 04.11.08. Just wait it out. Musclenerd apparently is working on one (albeit for the iPhone 4S) and Sherif Hashim has expressed interest in working on 02.10.04 and 04.11.08 unlock. There is no ETA of a hardware bypass from GEVEY or maybe even software unlock.
That who are unaware, GEVEY SIM is a piggyback hardware let users unlock the SIM on their devices without having to jailbreak the iDevice. It is a SIM-sized piece of plastic, which users insert into their iPhone along with a SIM card to free it from carrier restriction. As compared to the iPhone Dev-Team’s ultrasn0w unlock, Gevey SIM is hardware based paid unlocking hack.
