iPhone Dev Team has successfully jailbroken the latest rendition of iPhone running iOS 5 firmware. As a testament, MuscleNerd posted two pictures on his Twitter account confirming iPhone 4S jailbreak. The first picture shows a terminal window with root access while the second image shows Cydia on the iPhone 4S. The hacker has also shared a teaser video showing cydia package running on iPad 2.

Musclenerd has not confirmed whether iPhone 4S and iPad 2 jailbreak will be carried out using a new bootrom exploit or a userland exploit. It is even unknown whether the exploit will lead to tethered, semi-tethered or untethered jailbreak. If you are unaware of any of these jailbreaking terms often used by hackers, you may head over here.
On the other side, the talented coders of Chronic Dev Team are taking long to hack Apple iOS 5 on iPhone 4S and iPad 2, raising the question of just how hardened is to circumvent Apple’s restrictions on A5 processor. Ostensibly, p0sixninja has already confirmed to have discovered five useland-based exploits in the A5 chip at recent jailbreaking convention MyGreatFest.
Since the exploit is half-cooked, the hackers have not packaged it for primetime usage and no ETA has been shared so far. But one thing is clear that the users will be able to jailbreak their shiny toys on A5 chip in near future to free themselves from the walled garden of Apple’s App Store and access cydia applications.
